Save as PDF

The technique for saving an Excel flowchart as a PDF file depends upon the version of Microsoft Office that you are running. The steps below show the easiest, lowest cost methods for each version.

 

Before You Save to PDF

 

One thing to be aware of is that some PDF drivers will corrupt the layout of the connectors. If this should happen to your flowcharts when exported to PDF, then the best remedy is to Group all the shapes into a single shape before export. Read the Work with Grouped Symbols for instructions on grouping all the symbols.

 

Excel 2000 - 2003

 

Excel 2000 through 2003 do not have built-in support for saving to PDF. However, there are many 3rd party tools that allow you to do this, including the free printer driver CutePDF Writer.

 

Excel 2007

 

Microsoft has released a plug-in for all Microsoft Office 2007 products that lets you save as PDF or XPS and is available for download here:
