 Settings - Symbol List Tab
The following is an overview of each of the settings for the active Symbol List (shown above).
Symbol List Tab
| • | Active Symbol List: A drop down that allows you to choose basic flowcharting symbols or a "My Symbols" list that you can customize. The basic symbols list includes the most commonly used flowcharting symbols - process, decision, terminator, and connector. |
| • | Edit Symbol List: Opens the Edit Symbol List dialog that allows you to add or remove symbols from your "My Symbols" list. |
| • | Export Symbol List: Exports the list of active symbols to a worksheet for a handy reference. |
| • | Disable keyword mappings: If checked, keywords will be ignored and entries will generate Process symbols by default. |
List Columns
| • | Symbol: A icon of the symbol - cannot be edited in the grid. To change the list of active symbols, see Edit Symbol List under Options, below. |
| • | Style: A small icon of the style set for the symbol - cannot be edited in the grid. To change the style, see Change Style under Styles, below. |
| • | Name: This is the name of the symbol that will be displayed when you generate a Symbol Key. Double-click to edit. |
| • | Prefix: An abbreviation of the symbol name. Double-click to edit. Important: keywords must be separated by commas. (See also: Using Keywords and Prefixes). |
| • | Keywords: Words, that when used in an entry, will generate a specific symbol. Double-click to edit. (See also: Using Keywords and Prefixes). |
| • | Width: This sets the default width for the selected symbol. The grid units are based on the default row height in Excel. |
| • | Height: The height setting is similar to the width setting. By default, FlowBreeze will auto-size the height of the symbol to fit the text. |
| • | Move Up / Move Down buttons: FlowBreeze will check your flowchart text entry against the keywords in the list. The keywords are evaluated in the same order as the symbols in the list, so if a text entry has keywords matching two or more symbols, the symbol that appears first in the list will be created. |
Style Section (Standard edition only)
When you select a row in the grid, a zoomed in image of the style will in the style box. Clicking the Style... button will open the Symbol Style window, allowing you to change the style.
