Main Toolbar

The FlowBreeze toolbar is loaded when you start Excel. The following is a breakdown of the main toolbar buttons.

 

cbb-settings        Settings: Opens the Settings windows, allowing you to customize the FlowBreeze flowchart  rules and formatting.

 

cbb-start-flowcharting        Start Flowcharting: Starts an interactive flowcharting session.

 

cbb-stop-flowcharting        Stop Flowcharting: Stops the interactive flowcharting session.

       [Note: This toolbar button is normally grayed out. It only becomes enabled when you are in interactive flowcharting mode.]

 

cbb-flowchart-wizard        Flowchart Wizard: Scans the worksheet for text and loads it into the Flowchart Wizard. Note: This feature is available in Standard Edition only.

 

 

cbb-toggle-toolbars        Toggle Toolbars: Toggles the toolbars for quick access to flowchart symbols, block arrows, and connectors (flow lines).

 

cbb-selection-arrow        Select Objects: Allows you to click and drag around a set of shapes to select multiple shapes..

       [Note: This toolbar button must be de-selected to resume normal mouse functions with the worksheet.]

Create a Grid: Creates a grid, allowing you to set up swim lanes, titles, or other flowchart customizations prior to flowcharting.  (See Create a Grid for more details.)

 

Toggle Grid Lines: Shows or hides the grid lines on the sheet grid lines.  (See Toggle Grid Lines for more details.)

 

Clear Shading: Clears any cell shading on the worksheet. If a flowcharting session is interrupted by printing or closing a workbook, sometimes the gray guidelines will remain on the sheet. This a quick way to clear them off the sheet.

 

Create a Symbol Key: Generates a symbol key (shape legend), listing all the symbols used in your flowchart. (See Create a Symbol Key for more details.)

 

Extract Flowchart Text: Iterates through the flowchart symbols, extracting the text and creating a list of the process steps.  (See Extract Flowchart Text for more details.)

 

Shape Selection Tool: This tool lets you select multiple flowchart symbols and other shapes. (See Shape Selection Tool for more details.)

 

Apply Styles: Applies the default style to all the flowchart symbols and lines. (See Apply Styles for more details.) Available in Standard Edition only.

 

Style Wizard: Loads all the shapes into a form and lets you selectively change the style and symbol type of each one. (See Style Wizard for more details.) Available in Standard Edition only.

 

Save Flowchart as Picture: Allows you to save the flowchart and/or worksheet as a picture. (See Save Flowchart as Picture for more details.) Available in Standard Edition only.

 

Insert Drop Down Menu

 

The Insert drop down menu lets you manually insert a number of symbols.

Flow Line Insertion Tool: A popup window that allows to to insert a formatted flow line between two symbols.

 

Flowchart Symbol: Lists 28 flowchart symbols.

 

Flow Line: Lists 9 different types of flow line connectors.

 

Callout: Lists 8 different styles of callouts. Callouts are used to add comments to flow chart drawings and are outside the process steps.

 

Block Arrow: List 4 block arrows (up, down, left, right).

The Drawing Tools drop down menu contains a number of utilities to simplify creating flowcharts. Many of the functions shown below are not included when run in Excel 2007 See the Excel 2007 Ribbon section for details.

Select Multiple Objects: Opens windows that allows you to select multiple flowchart symbols at once.

 

Snap to Grid: Snaps the flowchart symbols to the worksheet grid lines.

 

Snap to Shape: Snaps a symbol to the edge of another flowchart symbol.

 

Reroute Connectors: Reroutes the connectors so that they are the shortest distance between two symbols.

 

Group: Creates one shape out of many.

 

Ungroup: Splits the grouped shape back into its constituent parts.

 

Regroup: If a set of shapes has been grouped then ungrouped, they may be regrouped by selecting a single shape and clicking this function.

 

Bring to Front: Brings a shape in front of other shapes if they overlap.

 

Send to Back: Puts a shape in back of other shapes if they overlap.

 

Bring Forward: Used when three or more shapes are layered, bringing a shape in front of the shape that is on top of it.

 

Send Backward: Used when three or more shapes are layered, putting a shape in back of the shape that is under it.

 

Rotate Left: Rotates a shape to the left by 90 degrees.

 

Rotate Right: Rotates a shape to the right by 90 degrees.

 

Insert Hyperlink: Inserts a hyperlink into a shape or worksheet cell.

 

Change Autoshape: Allows you to change a flowchart symbol type after it has been created.

 

Help

Help Contents: This opens a window with links to this help file, the online support page, and an event log viewer..

 

Check for Updates: Opens your web browser to the breezetree.com updates page to check if there is a new version available for download.

 

Register: Opens the registration window, allowing you to enter the license key. You can also use this window if you need to check your license information at some later point.

 

About: Shows the current version of the software and also displays the registration information
