Troubleshooting

I open Excel and the FlowBreeze toolbar isn't loaded. What do I do?

1. Excel 2000 - 2003 Only: In Excel, if you click View > Toolbars from the menu, is FlowBreeze listed but unchecked?

2. If Excel was running during the installation, it will need to be re-started again for the FlowBreeze toolbar to display.

3. Check the Disabled Items list:

Excel 2000 - 2003:

- Click Help > About Microsoft Office Excel, then click the Disabled Items button.

- If FlowBreeze is listed, enable it and restart Excel.

Excel 2007 - 2010:

- Click the Office Button in the upper left corner of Excel 2007.

- On the bottom-right of the popup menu, click the "Excel Options" button.

- In the Excel Options window, click "Add-Ins" on the left navigation panel.

- Select "Disabled Items" from the "Manage" drop down and click the "Go..." button.

- If FlowBreeze is listed, select it from the list, click the "Enable" button, then close out the Excel Options window and restart Excel.

4. Check the Connected status and Load Behavior status.

To check the connected status, download the file linked below, open it and click the "Check FlowBreeze" button.

http://www.breezetree.com/downloads/FlowBreezeConnectionTest.xls

(Note: This file contains a digitally signed macro.)

5. Check the security settings:

Excel 2000 - 2003:

- Click Tools > Macro > Security.

- Click the Trusted Publishers tab

- Make sure the "Trust all installed add-ins and templates" box is checked.

- Restart Excel.

Excel 2007 - 2010:

- Click the Office Button in the upper left corner of Excel 2007.

- On the bottom-right of the popup menu, click the "Excel Options" button.

- Click "Trust Center" on the left navigation panel.

- Click the "Trust Center Settings" button.

- The "Message Bar" panel should be open by default. Make sure that the "Show in Message Bar..." option is selected.

- Next, click "Add-Ins" from the left menu.

You have two options on the Add-Ins panel:

Option 1:

- Leave all the settings on this panel Unchecked.

Option 2:

- Check the box labeled "Require Application Add-ins to be signed by Trusted Publisher"

- Uncheck "Disable notification for unsigned add-ins"

- Uncheck "Disable all Application Add-ins"

Excel needs to be restarted for these security changes to take effect. If you selected Option 2, then the next time you restart Excel a security message will show below the Ribbon. Click on Options and manually enable FlowBreeze. You will need to restart Excel (again) for the FlowBreeze toolbar to fully load. (Note: FlowBreeze is digitally signed by a Trusted Publisher, but checking the first checkbox will disable it anyway - until you manually set the permissions on the next restart.)

6. Did you download the program from www.breezetree.com, or another site? The only other sites authorized to host FlowBreeze are the following:

- www.flowbreeze.com (visiting flowbreeze.com should redirect you to breezetree.com.)

Important: Download.com, Tucows.com, and other download sites usually host old versions of FlowBreeze. To get the latest version, download FlowBreeze directly from www.breezetree.com.

Questions: If the above checks didn't reveal the problem, please contact BreezeTree. The following information would be helpful to determine the root cause.

- If you click Start > All Programs, is FlowBreeze listed among the applications?

- Is there a file FlowBreeze.dll in the C:\Program Files\FlowBreeze\ folder?

- What version of Excel are you running - 2007, 2003, 2002 (XP), or 2000?

- What Windows version are you running - Vista, XP, or 2000?

- Are you running any other add-ins in Excel?

Why isn't FlowBreeze listed in the Add-Ins list under Tools > Add-Ins?

FlowBreeze is a COM Add-In. The files listed in the Tools Add-Ins list are Excel files with *.xla and *.xll extensions.

Why isn't FlowBreeze listed in the COM Add-Ins list?

By default, FlowBreeze is installed for All Users on a machine. In a corporate environment, this allows administrators to install the software for people with User-level permissions. However, an Office security feature prevents COM Add-Ins installed for all users to be listed in the COM Add-ins list.

[Excel 2000 Only] I copy something then open Excel. The clipboard contents are no longer there.

The only way to set toolbar icons in Excel 2000 is to copy the icons to the clipboard and paste them onto the toolbar buttons. On startup FlowBreeze captures the information in the clipboard, creates the toolbar, then restores the clipboard data. Different types of data are stored in different formats. This method effectively handles the majority of data types, but there may be data types that fall outside the scope of the capture and restore functions.
