As version 2.0 of FlowBreeze nears release I will preview new features. This first feature preview is the save as Picture function in the new Export tool. The Save As picture tool allows you to save just the flowchart as a picture or select both the flowchart and a range of cells. Actually, there doesn’t even need to be a flowchart on the sheet - you can save a range of cells and anything included in it if you want.

The Save Flow Chart as Picture feature will support .png, .jpg, .gif, .bmp, .tif, and .emf formats. here is a preview of an Excel flow chart saved as a .png file:

It´s nice to see picture export. Right now we evaluate different flowcharting tools in order to integrate them into our intranet. Therefore we need proper html export facilities. As Excel exports html, this at least would be possible. An export as image and html image map would be even nicer. Any plans for integrating image maps?

I’m creating an HTML Export to go along with the Picture Export. Excel sticks a lot of cruft in the HTML export and the images don’t export well. Also, the pages usually look terrible across different browsers.
The initial HTML export feature will be bare bones. Features such as image maps will have to come in a later release. Also, it will allow you to export a flowchart or a range of cells, but the cells will be captured as a picture, not rendered as text.

I’m pushing for the end of next week.
The testing for all mixes of Windows and Office is not complete yet, so that target is barring any major issues. That said, FlowBreeze is tested iteratively throughout the development cycle, so I’m not expecting anything major to pop up.
